Our recording Saariaho: Reconnaissance was announced winner in the Feb 4, 2024 round of Grammy Recording Academy Awards in LA, in the category of Best Choral Performance.
Our team included conductor Nils Schweckendiek, Uusinta Ensemble, and Helsinki Chamber Choir.
We collaborated this project with the composer Kaija Saariaho in person about one year before her death. I was able to interview her for the part of my dissertation that deals with her earlier work. You can purchase the winning recording here.
The stakes that we left burning (2023) can be listened here in concert recording from the festival ‘Uuden musiikin lokakuu 2023’, along with my interview. https://areena.yle.fi/podcastit/1-66698661
My written doctoral dissertation on “The Noise-Pitch Continuum in Timbral Music” at HAMU, Prague is finished. It studies works of timbre-based repertoire with a novel analytical method for 288 pages in five chapters. As of today (June 28, 2022), the dissertation is awaiting approval and the dissertation event will take place in Prague on September 13, 2022.
This Thursday September 23, 2021 I will give a lecture on the “Aikamme musiikin luentosarja” lecture series, an established institution in Helsinki, about my recent ideas and practices in composition: https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Community/Aikamme-musiikin-luentosarja-276390072416977 .
My lecture will include viewings of performances and talk in Finnish, and probably a Facebook livestream possibility for the wider audience will be provided.
